I told myself I was only going into Zara this week to do a return. I was going to walk in, head straight to the counter, then keep it moving. That did not happen. The second I saw the sale section, I knew I was cooked. Thirty minutes later, I'm in the fitting room with 12+ pieces and a mild sense of denial about my bank account.
But here's the thing: when the summer sale hits like this, you don't walk away. You lean in and find the pieces you might’ve been putting on hold.
I ended up walking out with five pieces that all made sense for my upcoming events, work trips, and thrifted finds for the summer. That's the sales magic for you: you go in for nothing and come out with a whole rotation.
The coral mini dress was the first thing I grabbed, easy, breezy, zero effort, the kind of dress you throw on and instantly look like you tried harder than you did. Then the red halter maxi, which is giving a completely different energy, more date night, more "I have somewhere to be."
The embroidered top paired with my recent Madewell thrifted find went together so well and ended up being one of my favorite combos from the whole haul, proof that mixing prints and textures works when you trust it.
And then the shoes. The nude platforms were markdowns that did not look like markdowns, which is exactly what you want from a sale find.
The white puff sleeve top with my thrifted khaki maxi rounded it out, clean, modest, still very DMV summer.

The Spill
Here's what I keep coming back to when shopping for sales. It's not about buying more; it's about buying with intention even when the price is lower. Just because something's marked down doesn't mean it has to come home with me. I still asked myself the same questions I always do: will I actually wear this, does it fit the life I'm building, does it feel like me?
Every piece in this haul passed that test. And honestly, that's the whole philosophy behind thrifting and being elevated, whether it's a thrift find or a sale rack find, intentional is intentional. Elevated doesn't always mean full price. It means considered.
